Choosing to article at SKM gave me a wealth of valuable experiences. I was given the freedom to make the articling experience my own. If you have an interest in a particular area of law, it will be cultivated and encouraged. As well, if you are uncertain of what area you’d like to specialize, you can be certain that you will gain exposure to all areas of law.
SKM excels at practical training. I had carriage of some of my own files; made regular court appearances, both on my own and with a lawyer to assist and observe; I conducted client interviews, drafted documents and, of course, research. There were many opportunities to observe or assist senior lawyers when really interesting cases presented good learning experiences.
I found the team at SKM professional, personable and approachable. I really enjoyed my SKM articles and was proud to be invited to join the firm as a lawyer. We work hard at SKM, but the rewards are innumerable.

My articles at SKM Law Firm proved to be a valuable and interesting learning experience, and a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends. On the practical side, SKM offers a broad range of opportunities. Without a formal rotation the program is organized to ensure exposure to a variety of practice areas including corporate, commercial and civil litigation and family law, with consideration given to my own particular interests.
